This bridge was rebuild and its just beautiful. The only thing I wish they would do to bridge is to put height and weight limit on it. It's one of a kind not many bridges like this you can travel over. I live here in Pepperell. I ride over this bridge almost daily.

We drove out of our way because this showed up on Trip Advisor and we were close by. It was a pleasant diversion and the little town had some nice stores and restaurants, but we didn't have time to stop. The bridge was ok.

I used to walk across this bridge way back in the 40's and 50's when I was growing up in Pepperell. It was especially scary in the old days because you could see the Nashua River through the cracks in the walkway.

On a weekend downtown Railroad Sq can get crowded, bike a bit further and enjoy shade, Nashua river and picnic at this historic site.

As another reviewer noted this is not an authentic covered bridge, but a new version of the old one that needed to be replaced. It's definitely not worth a visit unless you are in the area. Of course if this is your first covered bridge it would be an interesting experience. Then head to Vermont for the real thing.

This bridge is newly built. But this bridge is based on the original bridge's style. One of the few covered bridges in MASS.

The covered bridge is essentially the Pepperell town mascot, appearing on much of the stationery, sports team patches and so on; the identity of the town is very much tied into it. When the previous incarnation of this bridge was deemed unsafe for vehicles and closed to traffic in advance of its already scheduled replacement in 2008, the town gov't learned that the State intended to build a simple "slab" span in its place and all heck broke loose. The resulting delay in construction meant the bridge was closed through July of 2010, but today it stands built in the same design as its predecessor. Being newly re-built, the historical significance is not the bridge itself but the story behind its continued existence. You can read about the history of the bridge in depth, including its Revolutionary War significance, and much of the saga of the demolition and rebuilding on the Town of Pepperell's website. There is ample parking available in a newly designated river access/'Scenic View' lot which has a small 'historic location' information display overlooking the bridge and river. Popular spot for painters and photographers. Both sides of the bridge have wood plank sidewalks on the exterior. It's a quick detour from the Rail Trail and both the Covered Bridge Country Store and Pepperell's business center, including several restaurants and convenience stores, within a short walk or bicycle ride.

If you really want to see coverd bridges, I suggest Brattleboro,Vt. Pepperells bridge is new not old like what you would see in Vermont or even New Hampshire. There is nothing much to see in Pepperell,I live here and have for 35 years not much to see...The town of Groton is next door which is much more appealing to visitors, home of 2 major private high schools, Lawerence Academy and Groton School, lovely rolling hills where you will find Gibbet Hill Grill Restaurant.

So this is the third or fourth bridge at this spot over the Nashua River. This is called the Pepperell Covered Bridge while the previous was the Chester A Waterous Bridge and the Jewett Bridge before that. At that site during the revolutionary war, the women of the town led by Prudence Wright, captured a British spy who was bringing important information back to the command. Great spot for visitors to check out while passing through. Short distance from Rt 3 at MA exit for 113 and NH exit for 111. There are sidewalks on either side of the bridge and a parking area.
