You can walk around virtually alone and view the historical dioramas about the forest and the research work. Free admission but only a jerk wouldn't leave a donation!

Some museums are for the public. The Fisher Museum in Petersham is very good, but as one reviewer has already noted "it's the wrong place," if you're looking for food, music, and lots of people.... The Fisher Museum will interest environmentalists, historians, preservationists, and some scientists. Harvard students and graduates should visit the Fisher Museum, if they're in the area. It's a Harvard project that's a bit obscure... Who else will enjoy the Fisher? Hikers and amateur naturalists who like trees and nature. Some children will enjoy the Fisher, if they're especially interested in nature and if they have some good teachers with them.... I have pleasant memories of my trip to the Fisher. Still, I know that it won't appeal to all tastes.

This museum is run by Harvard University but nowhere near the university. I liked trees and nature so I like this. If you are looking for a tourist attraction with food, music and lots of people, you really came to the wrong place! This is a peaceful educational museum.
