There are many intriguing facets to this little natural history museum and educational center for all ages and ongoing exceptional programs and tours available. The fact that it is free is amazing. This resource should not go underutilized!

I come here all the time with my 4 year old son. he could be a tour guide here. even though we are here often, he enjoys himself, and discovers something new every time. they have a great little gift shop and there is often an art exhibit in the attached Great Hall (they often hold music events on fri. eves here too)

Great attraction for something that's free. Kids loved it, they were given a scavenger hunt to do and had fun searching for the animals. They had several exhibits set up like habitats with the flora and fauna. Also a water shed exhibit. If you plan on visiting the gift shop though, plan to go way before they close. We thought we had time since it was 10mins before closing, but they close up the gift shop earlier than the building.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this FREE museum which describes the history of the Connecticut River, including geology, wildlife and industrial use and misuse. Our 5 year old loved the dioramas (as did we). Wish there was something similar in the UK although hard to compare any of our rivers with the 410 mile majesty of the Connecticut!

The Great Falls Discovery Center features exhibits that depict the wildlife and habitats found within the Connecticut River watershed. The exhibits are so realistic and the murals are amazing! The center is appropriate for adults and kids of all ages. There are always great kids events going on through the summer and on a more limited basis in the winter. Admission and most of the events are FREE! The center is kid friendly, and has friendly and welcoming staff. Definitely a place to check out!

Free! Exhibits show the habitat and animals of the Connecticut River. Museum is on the Canal that fed several mills. Sometimes the building shakes with the force of the canal river rushing past. Walk across the old foot-brdge, if you dare. Look down at the rushing water and get a bit dizzy. Follow the excellently produced Downtown Walking Tour. Chat with the skilled and personable DCR staff.
