I have been a long time patron of this movie theater and always choose it over competing theaters. I love the size, the popcorn with real butter and the customer service. Today that service went above and beyond my expectations. The start of the film The Hobbit was delayed due to an issue with the projector. The film started 15 minutes late. The staff gave us notice of what was happening and it was a small crowd in the theater so we just waited quietly. Upon the start of the previews I was very pleasantly surprised by a female staff member who distributed free passes to any upcoming movie. This was done as a gesture for the late start. This was unexpected and not needed but such a welcome surprise! I felt that my patronage and time was valued. This just solidifies the theater's spot on my list as the best in the area!

The CinemaSalem is an old movie house with various theaters. We saw the movie '1692' in a very small theater that probably sat 30 people. It wasn't cheap, we paid $9 a person. The movie was very short but it was in 3D which, of course, is fun. Our two teenagers actually stayed awake and I think learned something. It was short enough for them and the 3D helped. The acting was lame but the scenery was nice. Better things to do in Salem but it wasn't horrible.

A most worthwhile activity to gain a well-produced understanding of the times and the fear experienced then. It is like a contemporary documentary. It lays to rest many of the misconceptions of what happened in Salem. Highly recommend as the first thing to do when visiting Salem. This was the highlight of our visit there, which doesn't say a lot because there's not a lot to see or do.

I went to see the History of Halloween in 3D-it seemed very silly and in a tired old theater. I would spend my time elsewhere!

Fun and intimate theatre. I loved that it looked as though it was a bunch of college students that did it...but I don't know how well the Celtic woman went over being a tranny and all. Definitely learned new things...and it was in 3-D! :)

Cinema Salem was okay, but "Hysteria", more like Hysterical. First of all the "illusionist/magician", was very obviously walking around the lobby trying to eavesdrop on conversations to get information about the audience prior to the show. I know this is a normal practice, but he kind of blew it by not being subtle. During the show he was awkward, unpracticed, and was not well versed in what occurred in1692. He talked excessively turning a 75 minute show into 1 hour and 45 minutes but due to his lack of experience, in that time frame he only completed 6 or 7 tricks/illusions. One thing I found very interesting was his efforts to debunk the work of psychic's and mediums. Now, I am not one to go to a psychic or medium and I have my doubts, HOWEVER, this show takes place in Salem in October, where the psychics and mediums are a big part of the draw that brings in the tourists around for Halloween and all year round. Why create negativity for that integral part of your tourist trade, and who is he to take business away from folks just like him trying to make a living. I am SURE some of the psychics and mediums in the area would LOVE to take a few shots at debunking this show! Now for the "audience participation", when you look for reviews for this show on the internet, one post tells it all and that's the casting call for this show, looking for actors to participate. This and seeing the show tells you that audience participation is pretty much pre-determined, and there are "plants", or "shills" in the audience who will be called on to participate. Some of the "plants" definitly over did it with their acting ability and made the show look "canned". All around us, audience members were laughing and pointing out the flaws in the show, so that's not good. Then when some of the "plants" beat a hasty retreat out the door when their assistance was no longer needed, that was a giveaway as to the lack of polish. With seasoned, experienced illusionists and shills, this show could be GREAT, but as it is now, save your $20, $30, or $40 bucks, and spend it on a good psychic or medium!!

The CinemaSalem is a tired, old movie house in a mall that has seen a better day. We saw the movie 1692 and the theater we were in could not have been much bigger than 10x12 and have more than 15 chairs in it. The screen seemed like it was a 65" TV screen. I'm sure it was bigger but not by much. I slept through the movie...it was that exciting. I don't recommend the CinemaSalem or the movie.

This theater is one of the best little theaters in town. They have good movies and neat special feature films about Salem and the witch trials. They are reasonably priced and great for the entire family.

Cinema Salem is my favorite local movie theater. It generally attracts a good selection of films, including some art house films. The popcorn is very good too.Cinema Salem is located next to an excellent restaurant, Thai Place, creating easy dinner and a movie options.

We watched The True 1692 at this theater, and it was a good experience. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the movie was well constructed and worth watching. The 3D was incorporated well, and it was good value for money.

Wow, this place is lame. We saw a movie on a screen the size of the one my parents have at home. The price for a ticket wasn't reduced, but we had to sit on folding chairs in an exit hallway. Horrible. I won't be going back.

Comfortable seats, cup holders, yummy popcorn and they use real butter!!! The video and audio is excellent, and have never had to deal with people using their cellphones during any movies we have seen @ Cinema Salem!!!!

I live nearby and the convenience of it is appealing. I also try to avoid the large cinemas at the malls. I like the coffee cafe right outside it, which is fairly new. Unfortunately, this place does need some updates, as it is showing lots of wear and tear, and hasn't been updated for quite some time (especially the bathrooms.)

Cinema Salem is a lovely little local theatre. It has three regular theatres and a smaller, 18-person viewing room that I think is typically used for independent films or their own historical films about Salem and the North Shore, which locals and visitors alike should see.My friends and I love coming here, not only because it's convenient for us as Salem residents, but it's a cozy theatre, more reasonably priced than the big ones, and CinemaSalem does a lot of special promotions and special showings. For example, they've aired popular television shows (such as Lost), allowing the community to come together to enjoy episodes; they air classic films (saw Back to the Future there recently, and Jaws is coming soon!); they have special show times and discounts; and they are key to the very popular annual Salem Film Fest. I will admit that I was not a fan of the live-acted Dr. Horrible showing, but I understand that some folks are into that sort of thing and appreciate CinemaSalem being open to it nonetheless. There is a cafe that I've never actually gone into because I'm old-school and popcorn is as much a part of going to the movies as the movie is, but it's a great addition to the cinema itself. There's also loads of parking in the area. Love having this place here!
