If I were five then this museum might do the trick. I haven't been impressed. Actually, I've been kind of disappointed. But because the other museums are there and well worth going to, I stop by the Science Museum hoping something cool will show up.

This is a smaller sized science museum. Our children liked that there were a few live animals and the huge dinosaur model.

We went this past weekend with our young children and really enjoyed the museum. The main reason we came is for the rainforest exhibit and we were quite disapointed with that. There is a $5 extra charge to see it and trust me it was not worth it. The rest of the museum was very well done though and the kids loved it.

Today was my first time visiting the museum. I took both my children and their friends so 4 kids and 1 adult. Even with my discounted library pass, I paid $64. The Rain Forest Exhibit was an additional $5/person and though it was a nice exhibit, there was nothing extra to justify the additional cost. For the size of the museum, it was too pricey. The saving grace was that we also were able to use our passes to make a quick visit to the art museum and to visit the outdoor Seuss sculpture garden and giant twig/stick structure.

Its a science museum. A little bit of everything in a small sized building. Its not NYC or Boston, but its fun nonetheless. Definitely worth a membership if you are a local resident

We enjoyed all the Museums... Very educational and worth seeing... The kids enjoyed it and we had a wonderful time... We would recommend families to see and experience each one....

Kind of small but done with a lot of attention to detail and a very large amount of effort. If you can't get to the Smithsonian, get to this one.

I took my kids here with friends when we were visiting Springfield. I was delighted to see such a variety of interesting exhibits. I enjoyed looking at and being a part of them. There were actually ones that you could actually touch and feel. This is awesome, especially for kids who are hands on learners. I highly recommend the Springfield Science Museum to families and educators.

Had a great time visiting this museum recently with our grandchild.Highlight was the butterfly exhibit in place until fall. Observation room in a natural setting with live butterflies many of which landed on our granchild giving her a thrill. Also, a walk through maze which explains the insects stages of growth ending with a thrill ride for the children. Plenty of other interesting animal and science rooms also. Makes for a great afternoon tour.

You get to visit four area museums for the price of one! This was one of my favorites. It has many different areas, I really enjoyed the Dinosaur area and it was very interesting to learn about animals and their environments here in town.

This is an excellent little Museum of Natural History, especially for such a small city. The collection has changed very little, though, in more than 60 years. The premises include an excellent planetarium, which puts on daily shows.

The science museum was not large. After walking through, thought there was more, wondering when the experience starts. This was the first of the museums we went into. Just glad it got much better after this one

Not a very large or up to date space, but adequate to spend a few hours in. We traveled from central Mass with our 2 year old and visited the variety of museums. Our favorite was actually the history museum. The science museum didn't seem to keep our toddler interested for very long and the history museum had a nice display of Indian motorcycles and a bit of Springfield history. We would certainly not make the hour trip again for a visit, but it might be a ncie afternoon for families a bit closer in location.

The rating may throw some off but this really is a great place to bring the kids. It isn't necessarily better then other places and can't compare with the really big science museums in the huge cities but it is an average place with lots for children to see. It would make a great trip for children and adults a like.

I visit the museums often; they offer interesting lunch hour talks for just a few dollars, and a monthly evening event with live music and drinks. I was just at the wine and chocolate event, which gives you a chance to sample wines (for $10) and check out the new art exhibit in the D'Amour Museum. I never tire of seeing the permanent collection, either. I've taken some nice art classes here as well - always interesting.
