    He's a fraud, our family's experience is identical to everyone else that bought a Groupon. We lost out on two vouchers for a total of $198, we have all the emails so Groupon is trying to get us a refund now. He has pulled every trick in the book- we didn't confirm, we didn't provide voucher #s when requested, he was booked solid.... now the day before our trip- we are not in the books for either of the dates he confirmed via email. Glad we called ahead instead of showing up. What a SHMUCK! Reported to BBB, Reported to Groupon but now I am reporting to the local news... anybody want to get in on the action?? I am going to tell the reporter to contact everyone listed in the complaints on Yelp! and Trip Advisor. This man should lose his business & license to do business anywhere, under any name... Seriously? Captain Rob Hunter? You aren't Captain Bob Hunter in Essex with another 3 business names? Idiot! I'm reporting you and ALL of your personalities!

    Cannot reach this company by phone. By the time I learned this, it was too late to book the trip during the only week our friends from Belgium were here. Wasted 99 bucks. Do not recommend dealing with this outfit.

    My friends and I took an outing with this company over the weekend. We had a great time, caught lots of fish, and had beautiful weather. At the end the mate cleaned our catch and we took them into the Hard Yacht Cafe that Upper Chesapeake runs out of. The restaurant cooked our fish up for us and we had a huge fish fry! Great boat trip, spending time with friends, and a feast afterwards- what more could you ask for!!! We will be back again and again for sure. Thanks for the memories captain!

    I went on a 3 hour fishing charter with Upper Chesapeake Bay Charters on July 21, 2014. It was a great experience! I booked this charter through a Groupon voucher I had purchased in February. I emailed the captain to find a date that would work for us, and within 48 hours of purchasing we were booked. When I date became close the captain sent me an email reminder for my date making sure I was all set. I took my two teenage daughters, my 7 year old son and my wife out for a nice family outing. It was way better then expected. We caught plenty of fish non- stop, and when the bites slowed down we went to another spot and found more hungry fish. Both Captain Rob and his First Mate did an excellent job and were kind and courteous to my family and I. The mate was very patient with the kids, and they had only been fishing once before and really needed a lot of assistance. We have already booked another trip for the late Fall, and plan on making this an annual excursion for our family!!!! My kids can't stop talking about how fun our trip on the Chesapeake was!

    My husband and our two kids (ages 9 & 7) booked a charter for June 30th. Since we have never done a chartered fishing trip before, I have nothing to compare it to. I had purchased a Groupon for the trip. Capt. Rob was very punctual and detailed with his emails. We arrived at the dock at 5am and I was pleased that parking was very easy. Knowing we had 2 young kids, Capt. Rob was conscious about how quickly children can become bored just watching and waiting. He took us to a few areas where we caught plenty of fish and the kids had a great time reeling in their catch. By the time we reached the dock, First Mate Heather did a fabulous job filleting the fish and packaging it for us. For us, it was a great family experience. Both Capt. Rob and First Mate Heather were very attentive and made it the highlight of our vacation! I am hoping to do another trip again, and wouldn't hesitate booking it with Capt. Rob.Cindy Gaskin

    If you have seen a Groupon for this charter and are considering purchasing it, you might want to reconsider. We purchased a Groupon for this company about a year ago. We tried many times to contact them with no success. When we finally got through to a person this spring. We were told they had no availability for a trip and if we didn't like it, take it up with Groupon. Well, we did take it up with Groupon and if I could review them here I would give them a bad review also. After much back and forth they finally agreed to give us a Groupon credit for this charter. Now I see they are offering it again, not three days later! Don't even think about it. This charter is a rip off.

    I cant tell you much about the boat, because we never got to go. We bought 2 of their groupons, and when we called to redeem them, we were told they were booked up solid for 5 months. So they booked us two consecutive weekdays five months down the road.When the morning came, we entered the docks to find not a single light on in the whole place. We started calling Captain Rob, and did not getting any answer. About 20 minutes later, the lady we booked with called me back, clearly still half asleep, and said that they had canceled our appointment for that day and the next week too, because she never got the Groupon numbers, WHICH I have proof that I emailed her as she requested. She didn't care that I had proof that I sent the numbers and said that both days bookings were already given out to other parties. When another boat owner showed up at the dock he pointed out Captain Rob's boat to us, which was obviously not booked, because it was sitting unmanned with not a piece of gear on it. The other captain also laughed and said that Captain Rob has that reputation with his Groupon people, and informed us that the guy is a joke in the captain business and that the other boat owners at that dock get alot of business because he leaves people hanging. The girl offered to reschedule us but said that they were booked for the next 2 months, but that they could try to take us in December or that they would still honor our Groupons NEXT season! Thankfully groupon refunded the money when they heard, and the groupon representative said they'd been getting a lot of complaints about that specific groupon offer. Stay away, very unprofessional.

    WARNING...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CONDITION. NOT KID-FRIENDLY OR PROFESSIONAL IN MY OPINION AND EXPERIENCE!!!!I purchased a Certifikid special as they were one of the first deal sites to offer deals focused specifically on families of children with special needs. I've purchased over a dozen deals and they were all great, until this one. First, it tooks over 2.5 weeks for someone to call me back. Second, there were no openings during the weekend between June and the end of August and very few during the week. This does not bode well for kids in camp; however, I was told to "make a reservation" and someone would contact me if any cancellations occur. However, I continued to call up right up until a week before my reservation date letting them know that 5-8pm is too late for us...no one returned my call until the night before the trip. I couldn't take the call, but returned the call that evening and almost everyday for over a week. I sent repeated emails (as suggested on their voicemail) And yes, I even called just pass midnight! Below is the response I received from Upper Chesapeake Bay Charters: "I have a 30 day cancellation policy with all my fishing charters. It is listed on my site. I am willing to work with people when they give me consideration of an advance notice even if it is less than the 30 day requirement. You were called the night before your trip and left a message to confirm your trip. You called 9am on the day of your trip to cancel. I have a cancellation list with people that want to go but I can not and could not get anybody to go in that short of notice. How is it fair to me and the people on the list for you to cancel last minute? I am on the boat from 5 am till 9 pm everyday. Thanks for your phone call at 12:12 am last night. I will be sure to return the favor to you ! Capt. Rob Hunter"Just so we are clear, I was told to make a reservation and called his office many times after expressing not only my concern about the day and time, but asking why I hadn't received a call for any openings. Needless to say, I certainly responding back in kind which included his choking on the $99 I paid and at least one expletive. BUYER BEWARE, I DO NOT SEE ANY KID FRIENDLINESS WITH Upper Chesapeake Bay Charters and wouldn't send an ant to his business.
