My husband and I were staying at the lovely Savage River Lodge and wanted to do one of our favorite activities besides the outdoors....wine tastings! When you get off the exit and into Accident, MD it may look small and deceiving, but Firefly Farms and Creamery is FULL of flavor! We actually had delicious wines and some of there own top-rated winning cheeses. I personally loved the mountain top blue. The service is impeccable for a laid back wine tasting. There was so much friendliness and NOT snobbishness. They were all there to serve you. The owner was so kind and giving. He always made sure that you were doing okay and happy. The price is definitely worth it! the store is charming and full of so many delicious things. I would know because I could not stop filling my arms and my husband's arms with goodies. Thank you again! When we are in the area we will return here.

We just got married and went to Deep Creek for a mini-honeymoon. We went to Firefly for 3 pairings of beer and cheese. The pairings were amazing. I even enjoyed the goat cheese (Cabra LaMancha) even though I despise most other goat cheeses. There was so much food for us to enjoy, and all of the flavors worked together so well. If you are celebrating something special and/or just love cheese then I highly recommend FireFly Farms! Tara and Kevin even packaged up the leftovers for us to enjoy the next day. It was a wonderful experience, and you get so much good food for the price.

Went to Deep creek for anniversary. Saw reviews for here before hand. So I made a reservation. I agree with other reviews, MUST go here. They know their stuff. I was drinking wines I normally never would and actually liking them paired with the cheeses they had picked. Friendly environment. Lots and lots an lots of food. We are planning on going back to the area in the summer with friends and that will definitely be on the list!

You'll drive right by without noticing the quaint wood building in Accident while en route to Deep Creek Lake or Wisp ski resort. Make sure you give this place a second look. I found it from a what to do guide for the lake, and was surprised when I made it there by directions, pulling in to a place I had driven by without a second glance. Never again. And do make sure you contact them if the online system says they're booked- I read that in another review and had the same experience myself for our first visit. We did, however, make it in for a later tasting the same day. It was worth a second trip to Accident. We've been there two more times with friends and their reviews are always the same- appreciation and delight. The cheeses are incredible- ones they make on site and ones that they have shipped in to the store. You can find the Fire Fly cheeses as some other markets as well- MOMS Organic Market in Frederick, where we live. For the last visit, I used the reservation system and added a note that there were really 6 of us. Mike replied within an hour that they would have 6 seats waiting for us. Pablo has presented at all of the pairings we have attended and it is clear that he loves what he does.

Had the opportunity to stop in to Firefly Creamery & Market today on our way to the Flight 93 Memorial. It was a pure pleasure to sample cheese, crackers and snacks with the help of Addie. OMG - the fig spread with cheese...had to buy 2 jars! Imagine with apples, turkey & melted cheese on some dense bread. Can't wait. Plus, there was the delight of watching the staff in the process of making cheese. A really nice additional benefit. Having great snacks to enjoy along the drive, the icing on the cake (cheese on the cracker)! A must stop for great service and delish, organic foods - including subs, seltzers, sodas, etc.

My friends and I really wanted to try their tasting and pairing experience this weekend. Unfortunately, their web site reservation system indicated they were booked. We decided to drop by anyway to check out the shop and discovered that they would have had the room! The reservation system was inaccurate. So, if you are interested in booking a tasting and pairing experience, call the shop. Don't rely on the web site! Although we weren't able to enjoy the full, sit down tasting and pairing experience, they were kind enough to give us a wine tasting while we sampled their cheeses at the counter. The gentleman working the counter was quite informative and helped us make a fine selection of cheeses for a tasting platter. Their wine selection is quite eclectic with choices from the US, France, Italy and Argentina (avoid the Maryland wine). The shop is small but packed with lots of great stuff. We also bought some fresh bread and a number of gourmet items to compliment our cheese selection. We definitely will be going back soon to try their tasting and pairing experience.

We heard about Firefly because their cheese is featured on one of Mountain State's pizzas and we decided to check it out. It is a small, quaint market filled with different things such and pasta, prosciutto, wine, various chips, and of course their homemade cheeses. We went with a big group of family and the staff did not flinch at all. One of the guys who worked their showed us all around and told us all about the cheese making process, their specific cheeses, and the history of the store- very interesting. Then they let us sample some of their cheeses such as the chevre and the merry goat round (clever right?). I personally do not like goat cheese, which is all they make, but I still had a great time. Also, I discovered they sell this amazing soda Spindrift that is apparently all natural and it tastes amazing! Overall it was a great experience and a fun morning. One last thing, if you get there close to when they open you can see the people actually making the cheese which was really cool.

Stopped in to grab sandwiches for the drive home to DC. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. Highly recommend and you will have to wait for them. So, try some cheese.

Every year we have a "girl's weekend" at Deep Creek Lake. We are always looking for new things to do. This year we landed on going for a wine and cheese tasting at Firefly Farms. Frankly, we weren't sure what to expect. The place is located in tiny Accident, MD--a place we usually zoom through on our way to the lake. As soon as we entered through the neat goat carved entrance, we knew this was someplace special. We called ahead to reserve places for a 1:00 sitting. There were just the 4 of us friends, which was just the right number to gather around a charmingly laid table. We opted for 4 wines/cheeses to try and one of the proprietors threw in a bonus selection too. It was great fun to nibble on the cheeses and antipasto offerings while our host chatted with us. He and his partner started out with a goat farm so they could learn the cheese making business from the ground up. It was delightful to hear about their business and philosophy. Each of us tasters seemed to prefer a different cheese and wine, but we all agreed the pate was terrific. We all carted away a bag full of goodies available for sale, like wine, cheese, Spanish honey, pate, and yummy salted carmels. While we were in Accident, we visited a kitschy little shop across the street and found the oldest building in Garrett County. The next time we get to Accident, I'm sure we'll stop back at the delightful gem.

We did the formal wine & cheese tasting (which you need to book ahead of time), but they also have wine & cheese tasting samples available for regular customers. There was a huge spread laid out for us of cheeses, marinated vegetables, bread, cured meats, and even some pecans and fig jam to go with it. There was so much food we couldn't finish it all and we came very hungry (but you can take your leftovers with you!). The cheeses were excellent, our favorite being the Mountain top blue - which was a mild blue cheese with a texture like Brie - delicious! The staff was very attentive and Pablo was happy to answer all of our questions. The wine pairings that he chose were perfect. All of the wines, cheeses, and other foods are available for purchase there, so you get to take your favorites home with you. The staff does not push this at all, though, which is nice. We loved it, and wish it was closer to our home. But we hear that they come to the Maryland Wine festival every year, so we will be sure to meet them there! For you out of towners: apparently they cannot sell wine on Sundays, so they may not be able to do tastings then either.

Enjoyed a fantastic cheese & wine pairing 10 minutes from Deep Creek at Firefly Creamery. Bring your appetite as the accompaniments were enough to feed double the number of reservations. Loved all Firefly goat cheeses, especially the Mountain Top Bleu. Tried some very interesting espresso rubbed cheese from BellaVitano and another delicious blue from Bayley Hazen. The wine selection was interesting and good quality - Vouvray, Petit Verdot/Petit Syrah, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Port. Hosts Sandy & Pascal were delightful.

More than cheese and more than goat cheese. Firefly Farms produces their own goat cheese, and they sell many very good cheeses from across the country. In addition to selling wine, bread and other accompaniments, they do wine tastings and perhaps a tour. All is very high quality.

from Deep Creek, we had to good fortune to happen upon this little shop. So many cheese choices and we were encouraged to sample any of them. Andy was so nice and knowledgeable on both their cheeses and the all the others they sell. Wine, cheese, crackers, chocolates, mustards and much more! We found several items to buy and really enjoyed chatting with Andy. Stop if you are in the area.

A small shop with goat cheese, wine, olives etc. They did have 2 types of sandwiches prewrapped, but since we have food sensitivities, we did not purchase. It looked great, but not what we we looking for.

We stopped in while out and about in the Deep Creek Lake area. We would not have known about it if we had not looked at the reviews on trip advisor. The cheese from this farm is strictly from goats milk. They're very good and we got several to take back to our rental to enjoy!
