This museum is free of charge. By the time you leave, you will want to give a good donation. They showcase cars, bikes and more. Make sure you go upstairs to see the boat display. Great place!!

Our second stop in Oakland was the Garrett County Museum of Transportation. What a wonderful collection they have. They have on display boats, snowmobiles, bicycles, motorcycles and beautiful old cars and trucks in their lovely two story facility. It is free to visitors and worth a stop and look see. We loved our visit.

they have everything from boats to cars to horse drawn carriages ...this museum was so interesting. it showed all the ways folks would come to the city and lake from all over the 13 original colonies..very neat.

This relatively new museum is directly across from the restored historic B&O train station, and just steps away from the Garrett historical museum; therefore it is easy to visit all three together. The first floor of the transportation museum is about transportation, and the second floor is all about the history of Deep Creek Lake. It's a valuable learning experience about this exceptionally nice region of the state of Maryland.
