I live here, so just wanted to check it out. Not worth any travel that is more than an hour from Leonardtown MD. Do NOT make the visit in the winter season even if you are curious. Nothing to do down here in Southern Maryland

I spent five minutes looking for this rock, totally not worth. But, its the only to do around here.I thought it would be a sizeable rock, but it was the size of a small dog.

Very interesting. The rock is located at Leonardtown courthouse. The old courthouse. Look on the side of the building to the left of the building by the sidewalk.

A Trip to the Old Jail Museum is interesting as, in addition to seeing the small jail, there are also artifacts from Dr. Bean's office and the Moll Dyer Rock is outside. The story has it that Moll Dyer was thought to have been possessed by spirits and the townspeople burned her house down - she was found frozen to the rock where her handprint remains today.

I don't get it - it's not really even an attraction. It's a ROCK!! So, supposedly this witch from a long time ago was chased by the local towns people and put her hands on this big boulder (rock) in a stream and prayed to Satan to deliver her from their wrath. Good luck trying to find her hand prints which were supposedly melted into the rock - yeah, right!! This is the #2 attraction in Leonardtown?? How's that tourist trade doing lately?? Ya gotta be kidding me!! Ha, ha!!

It is a big rock. What else can be said? There are no discernible hand prints to be seen, per the folk lore. Don't see the appeal of this attraction. The legend of Moll Dyer is very interesting though.
