little sykes railway park

I read about Little Sykes Railway Park online, and I made a note to check it out. It is a miniature train station modeled after a Lionel station. There is a model train that children under 48" can ride, and my two year old LOVED it! A Scout Troop runs the operations, which is a nice touch. There is a little station where kids get their tickets, and then the train goes around a loop that has a little "town" and a covered "bridge." One of the nice things is that the train is free to ride, and it is operated on donations. That means all the kids can ride, including those whose families may not have a lot of expendable income. The train is in close proximity to the Sykesville Main Street area, where there are shops, restaurants, and a nearby playground and picnic area near the river. This made a for a nice Saturday morning diversion, and I would recommend it.
