national library and art gallery

We had been given a tourist map by our hotel which showed the National Museum here as well. A lady at reception told us the museum was now closed. So we had a look through the public areas of the art gallery. There are 2 modest rooms, one containing general art, presumably by local artists and the other containing portraits with names of the people, but no other info. It took us about 5 minutes. We spent a lot more time in the foyer looking at photos of the Archbishop of Cyprus's time as an exile in the Seychelles - an event I hadn't been aware of. Photos had quite good descriptive info.There are some photogenic old cannons, probably from shipwrecks, out on the front verandah, but there is no information provided about them.Save it for a rainy day or if you are truly desperate for something to do.

Although the portraits of local identities were of people unknown to us, it was pleasing that they had thought to commission an artist to do them as part of their history. I am sure they will be treasured in later years. There were also a number of paintings by local artists in the adjoining room. Mostly the styles would be described as "naive". Just behind the reception area on entering the building there was an exhibition of the time spent in the Seychelles by Archbishop Makarios, who was exiled from Cyprus for a period by the British Government.

There is a national portrait gallery most likely of important local historical figures and next to this gallery there was more local art work form local artists. basic paintings rather with scenery and portraits, figurative and classic style. Interesting little break in the middle of the small Victoria buzz

ヴィクトリア観光は歩いても十分回れるくらい狭い範囲なので、クロックタワーなどの並びにある近代的なビルのひとつで、特に何があるってわけではないナショナルライブラリーだし、これを見るために行くというよりは歩いているとガイドブックに載っている建物があった、という感じ。期待しない方がいいと思う。

La collezione risale infatti ai tempi in cui l'uomo fece la sua prima comparsa alle Seychelles. L'edificio costruito tra il 1991 e il 1994 in perfetto stile coloniale è molto ben tenuto e presenta una facciata principale con un alto porticato in colonne bianche e ampie superfici vetrate ed è immerso in un grande giardino . I ricercatori sono molto gentili e preparati a rispondere ad ogni curiosità e richiesta.
