[20160820-20160902]Solo traveler across NZ--BUS trips
Overview/Summary 1 Queenstown--Arrowtown--Wannka Lake--Queenstown Transportation(from airport to CBD): connect bus ( http://www.newzealand.com/cn/feature/queenstown-airport-new-zealand/ ), around 12NZ; bus equipped with detailed infor. about bus stops and bus route on a digital screen; the bus number from airport to CBD should be Route 11 bus.; bus time is around 30mins(not just 10mins on the offical website, but this one is more accurate http://www.connectabus.com/services/Airport-Connection , just wait for the yellow one to come at the bus stop when u get outside); As usual, Google map information is quite accurate again when you r lost in New Zealand; The CBD area is small, mostly are tourists around. Shopping: 'cause it is small, there aren't much to shop for I think. I didnt fnd the COUNTDOWN supermarket (a bigger supermarket with full self-service shopping, like 物美 in BJ, but still bigger than that) in Queenstown( short for Q), maybe not in the city center. According to the local residents' suggestion, countdown is supposed to be the biggest supermarket in NZ's cities. Food & resturants: Bit of expensive (esp. cigarettes, highly rcommend to bring enough and approvable amount cigarettes when you gonna leave China mainland)if compared with Auckland CBD; Transportation(from Q to Arrowtown and Wanaka): connect bus; or rent a car, according to one friend's experience, car rental fee is around 60NZ per day. Same credit card holder and license owener is required for most car rental companies (of course, there r always few companies have less strict requirements while leave us for less options as well). i-Site: There r i-Sites named after cities' names everywhere. U can get a lot useful informations there, plus, they also have great free wifi to use without time limitation, better check out there for free maps and recommendation booklets to help u get ur trip more practical. U can also buy intercity bus tickets or other coach companies' tickets from here. They also have Chinese staffs to help we Chinese tourists. Happy Travels service spot: ( http://happytravels.com.au/location/new-zealand/ ) I booked my tickets to Milford Sound from there, actually quite helpful and the staffs there r friendly as well. And the computers there r free to use for travellers. But I didnt find Happy Travel in Rotorua, only in Queenstown maybe. Accomodation: YHA Queenstown Lakefront is highly recommended from me, free wifi with great connection at all areas without time limits, super like that. And really r a clean and big YHA. 2 Rotorua--Wai-O-tapu--Hobbiton Village Transportation: intercity coach ( https://www.intercity.co.nz/ , provided with free wifi on the bus)versus HEADFIRST TRAVEL NEW ZEALAND bus tours ( http://travelheadfirst.com/ ), u can check on this websites to find out ur trip route, u could also buy tickets online but it gonna be surcharged, and Union cards won't be accepted. Of course, u will arrive at Rotorua i-Site, so u can check out in there or use the free wifi to get more information u want. The CBD area is small, but really quiet. The Hobitton village: 3 Auckland Transportation (from airport to CBD): skybus ( https://www.skybus.co.nz/find-a-stop#formAC , provided with free wifi on the bus with 30 mins limitation), more expensive than connect bus in Q, around 18NZ, you can find more infor. on skybus website if r travelling with family or u r not solo traveller, the prices gonna be much cheaper than solo passenger; and, the round trip tickets is cheaper than one-way tickets as well. U can buy directly when u wanna take the bus, actually no need to buy online. The bus stop is very easy to find whn u follow thw signs to find the Public Transportation. U need to press the stop botton( same as Australia) to get off when u r approching ur destination, which is different from connect bus in Queenstown. The rest buses r all regular buses, as I recalled it cost me 5.5NZ to go back to Queen street from Auckland Zoo. Auckland CBD is like every metropolis, filled with shopping malls, crowds, and ATM-s( joking, but it's true). Beacuse the Auckland Uni is around there, so there r colleage students all the time, I dont think the safety problems are that severe in the news, like robbing, stalking etc., while it never is more wrong to take cautions whenever u can. Coarse budgets Summary: Accommodation: 140+69+84+130+38=461NZ; Transporation(including Milford Sound Curise and Hobittion movie set tickets): 12+20+125+18+44+75+145+5.5+18=462.5NZ JetStar: 220NZ( round trip between Auckland and Queenstown) China Southern Airline: 3749RMB(round trip between BJ and Auckland) Activites: 327+28+58.5=413.5NZ skydive 327NZ Aucklad Zoo 28NZ Orbit 360 dining(including skytower entrance ticket) 58.5NZ Resturants: 19.5+36.9+13.8+12+13.8=96NZ others: 24.75NZ( charger adapter) In total, at least for 1677.75NZ+3749RMB, which is around 1,2000RMB. (some parts of cash expenses and sucharge fees r not included here)
